milet has slowly grown to become one of my favorite Japanese artists recently. I think it was sometime during the pandemic when I first discovered her works through THE FIRST TAKE on YouTube (then called THE HOME TAKE due to the pandemic) which highlighted her husky vocals. This CD essentially only has 3 songs in total with tracks 4 and 5 being the TV-size versions of the first two songs. The songs in this CD were featured in the second season of anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End which I have immensely enjoyed. The lyrics have a bittersweet and hopeful theme to them that reflects the anime’s story. Frieren, an unaging elven mage, embarks on an introspective journey as she reminisces and retraces the journey she’s had with her previous adventure. The songs convey the bittersweet feelings of loss and gain from a loved one.

Music aside, this CD is more of a collector’s item for anime fans. The included booklet expands on the artistic illustrations of the anime seen in season 2’s opening song. There was also some included stickers (I’m 80% sure as I’ve not opened the mini packet to check). However, from a practical standpoint, I do not like the packaging as there is no way to securely store the booklet and stickers like how a standard CD case would store the booklet within the cover. I need to always be mindful of the contents when picking it up otherwise things will fall out. Because of this, I like it as a novelty sort of CD and I’m happy to support the artist but would probably stick to standard CD cases from now on.
